Ancient watermill
Kerlogoden means "city of the mice" in Breton, and is a clutch of traditional building with cottages, farm house, water mill and barns situated in the Heart of Brittany. It is the site of an ancient watermill used in the past for grinding corn, making flax and sawing timber. Kerlogoden is a working farm and almost all the food eaten here is grown or made on site using organic and free range techniques.
Music is the love of food - a good reason to stay
For 2010, there are three double rooms avaialable in the main farm house Les Mimosas (lounge right), either for bed and breakfast (with optional evening meals) or for longer stays - from Easter until the end of October. The proprietors speak fluent French, German and English. We offer a partuclar welcome to lovers of fine food and good music.
15 minutes to the coast
Kerlogoden is 15 minutes from the Pink Granite coast and just over an hours drive from major airports. It is situated near the village of Botlezan in the commune of Begard, which dates from the 16th century. The town of Begard has fabulous patisseries and charcuteries and a tradional markets on Fridays in both the town squares.
Rivers and wildlife
Kerlogoden is bordered on its west side by the river Guindy. Offering you extensive grounds with gardens, meadows, woods, river and a little waterfall, the land around Kerlogoden extends to some seven acres of which five acres are woodland, home at various times of the year to deer and wild boar. Visitors are welcome to explore the woods, to relax by the river or walk in the meadows. The countryside around is gently sloping and ideal for cycling and walking with many bridle paths and river side walks.
Medieval towns
Kerlogoden lies equidistant between two medieval towns: Guiguamp and Lannion, about 15 to 20 minutes by car. Lannion has an organic market and a fish market. Guiguamp has a festival of traditional Breton Dance and Music in mid August (La Saint Loup). This area is the cultural heart of Breton speaking Brittany.
